The Gift of Nothing

On this Black Friday  cash strapped consumers have been standing in line since 4AM or earlier to pick up the latest gadget, big screen TV, sparkling piece of jewelry or cashmere sweater (at 40% off, wow!) for his or her loved one. While that early morning dedication must mean something, I think it’s time to think about the Grinch’s wise words, “Maybe Christmas…Perhaps…means a little bit more” (or Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and any other holiday). Which brings me to the BEST picture book for child and adult alike by Patrick McDonnell perfectly titled The Gift of Nothing. It all begins when Mooch the cat is in search for the perfect gift for his best friend, Earl the dog. The problem is, Earl already has everything and what can Mooch possibly get that he doesn’t already have? After much contemplation Mooch discovers that perhaps the best gift of all is…Nothing!  Nothing of course except his friendship.

This book is so special and now comes in a wonderfully packaged new edition. Perfect for the person who has everything, for your best friend and those people in your life who mean the most to you. Check it out in the Lizard’s Tale, you’re sure to love it!
